Mulled Wine

You don't need an oven to mull wine, and it is far too good to save just for Christmas! You can use one of our Turkish coffee pots to make enough for two glasses (or one generous serving!) or a saucepan to mull a whole bottle. If you don't want to go to the small bother of creating your own there are many good versions available in the shops and you just need to warm them through on the stove top.

Ingredients

A bottle of decent red wine (not the absolute best, but something you would drink), preferable something full-bodied

An orange, sliced

A lemon, sliced

3 level tablespoons of granulated sugar (you can try different sugars or honey to create different flavours)

A cinnamon stick

1 teaspoon of ground ginger

4-5 cloves

Method

  1. 1) Put all the ingredients in a wide bottomed saucepan and place on the top of your stove, stirring gently until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. 2) Allow it to heat up and enjoy the wonderful aromas of wine, citrus and spices.
  3. 3) Don't pour very hot wine into cold glasses! Warm them first to prevent them shattering.
  4. 4) Sit back, sip gently and watch the flames flickering in your Chilli Penguin Stove. You deserve this!
