Handmade By Us

On the Llŷn Peninsula North Wales

Penguin Inspiration

We are a small family run business located on the stunning coastline of the Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales, established in 2001. We now have a network of over 120 carefully selected stockists nationwide and we have our online shop for spares and additional Chilli products. If you want to read about us and where the company name came from, see Our Story page.

What inspires and excites us is beautiful, functional design. We love things that look amazing and perform brilliantly. We love fire and steel. We love the idea of stoves, objects that warm homes and lives, that can be fuelled by a renewable resource like trees. We want our stoves to burn as efficiently and cleanly as possible. We are committed to UK manufacturing and local employment, not only because the UK is good at it, but because every order contributes to the salary of someone local to us or someone who we know. We have strong sustainability goals.

Chilli Commitment

We are committed to UK manufacturing and offering local skilled employment. We work with a dedicated team of very skilled crafts people and technicians, you can meet the chilli penguin family here. We sell through a national network of independent specialist shops who can offer specialist advice about stoves and their installation and employ or personally recommend accredited installers. No system is perfect but we believe that there is the best way to endure safe and compliant installation and aftercare, which is why we don’t sell our stoves online.

Environmental Commitment

All of our stoves meet Ecodesign criteria and have achieved the higher HETAS Cleaner Choice accreditation. They have also been tested to burn in smoke control areas. We have strong environmental aims, you can read more about our sustainability commitment here. We are always looking at ways of improving and always open to new innovations.

Penguin Recommendation

The efficiency ratings of our stoves are amongst the highest currently available in the UK. This means that you will get more heat out of the fuel that you put in.

We can get battered by the winds and we are surrounded by damp salty air. We run our stoves almost continuously in our workshop and the same stoves have been performing brilliantly for 25 years. For us this is the best recommendation we can give you. If you want to read about us and where the company name came from, see Our Story page.
